The third season of the most-awaited Tamil reality TV shows Bigg Boss hosted by Kamal Haasan went on air last Sunday. While Bigg Boss Season One had 19 participants and the second season had 16, this time around, Bigg Boss season three started with 15 participants. Two special entrants came in soon after.

The reality show that airs on Star Vijay has always attracted controversy and this season too has fared quite well on its first week. Chennai based model and actor Meera Mitun entered the house on Tuesday as the 16th participant. The Super Model Miss South India 2016 title winner made her film debut with crime thriller 8 Thottakkal and was also seen in Suriya starrer Thaanaa Serndha Koottam directed by Vignesh Shivn. She played the wife of actor Kalaiyarasan in this film.

The show started with Bigg Boss electing Vanitha Vijay Kumar as the captain of the house for the first week. The actor who made her acting debut in 1995 with Chandralekha alongside Vijay has already gained a reputation inside the house, easily getting into arguments with fellow housemates.

Her issue with housemate Sakshi Agarwal, whom we saw in Kaala, on eating pongal for a second consecutive day became a topic for discussion by fans on the internet. Later, actor Meera too got into a spat with Vanitha with the former calling the latter too authoratative.

Model and actor Abhirami Venkatachalam, who will be seen in Ajith's Nerkonda Paarvai, Sakshi and Meera seemed to have known each other previously and a friction between the three led to a good dose of drama inside the house.

The first luxury budget task for the contestants was given on Tuesday. As their first task, they were asked to discuss topics pertaining to their life. Everyone was asked to pick a chit and answer the question that pertained to their personal lives. The episode turned into a tearjerker with many opening up about the most trangic incidents from their lives. Actor Reshma's story of domestic abuse and survival and Paruthiveeran Saravanan's story of hard times moved everyone.

The weekend episode was perhaps when the first big drama broke out inside the house with many of the contestants getting into a heated argument with each other. An issue broke out between Abhirami and 'Jangiri' Madhumitha on being a "Tamil" woman. Actors Sherin and Kavin spoke in support of Abhirami calling out Madhumitha for trying to character assassinate the latter. The issue was then amicably solved by the other contestants but not without tears and drama.

The first week ended with Kamal Haasan asking contestants to nominate and vote for the new leader. While Mugen, Mohan, Meera, and Reshma came forward as the nominees, Mohan won with nine votes.
