It is now confirmed that Bollywood icon, Amitabh Bachchan, would be playing a pivotal role in ‘mega star’ Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

The announcement regarding Bachchan’s inclusion in the star cast of this magnum opus came in as a surprise, as he had declined an offer to star in a Telugu film nearly a year ago.

Reports suggest that N Balakrishna had approached the actor to play a role in the movie titled Rythu directed by Krishna Vamsi.

However, Amitabh Bachchan declined the offer at that time citing call sheet issues.

Sources close to Balakrishna say that he was so set on casting Amitabh Bachchan for the role, that he has decided to put the project in cold storage until the latter agrees to be a part of the project.

It is interesting to note that ‘Big B’ has accepted Chiranjeevi’s offer, while he declined Balakrishna’s earlier offer.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a biopic on the late freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy who lived in the 18th century.

He was one of the first freedom fighters to raise a war flag against the British even before the famous Sepoy Mutiny in 1857.

Surendar Reddy is directing this historical magnum opus and it will be released in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi among other languages.

While Chiranjeevi plays the legendary Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, others in the star cast include Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Jagapati Babu, Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi, Nassar, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, Subbaraju, Ravi Kishan, Paruchuri Venkateshwara Rao and Jayaprakash.

The Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman will be composing the music for this venture with Ravi Varman cranking the camera and Rajeevan heading the art department to re-create the 18th century magic.
