Filmmaker Suseenthiran, known for films such as Naan Mahan Alla and Pandiya Nadu, is all set to join hands with veteran filmmaker-actor Bharathiraja and Sasikumar for a new project titled Kennedy Club which will be based on a women’s Kabbadi crew.

The project, which happens to be Suseenthiran’s fourth sports flick after Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu, Jeeva and upcoming Champion, went on floors on Tuesday in Pazhani. The film also stars Muniskanth, Soori, Meenakshi and Gayathrie in pivotal roles. It is rumoured that Sasikumar will be seen in the role of a coach and Bharathiraja will be seen as his father.

Talking about the film, Suseenthiran told TNM: “It’ll be an emotional sports drama and will be devoid of the clichés associated with films in this genre. We are planning to rope in real Kabbadi players to shoot the match sequences as we want everything to look very authentic. We will finish the combination scenes of the artists in the first schedule and then rope in Kabbadi players to shoot the match sequences. We are on the lookout for a Bollywood actor to play the antagonist.”

D Imman has been roped in to compose music while Gurudev will crank the camera.

Meanwhile, Suseenthiran’s latest film Genius is slated to hit the screens this week. It features debutant Roshan in the titular role. He said the film will appeal to kids and young parents in particular as it deals about the pressure and mental stress of being stuck in the rat race. Suseenthiran believes it will appeal to audiences universally. He also confirmed that his upcoming release Champion is a Football-based drama set in North Madras.
