Christmas season hit a musical high for Bengaluru as a local girl did the city proud by securing second place in solo singing at the winners recital of the American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2017.

Thirteen-year-old Arundhati Kartik performed at the Carnegie Hall, New York, on Christmas eve.

She sang the song “God help the outcasts” from the musical Hunchback of Notre Dame. A student of Sishu Griha Montessori and High School in New Thippasandra, Arundhati is training in Western classical vocal at the city-based Harmony – The Music School which is headed by singer Sandra Oberoi.

Arundhati started her vocal training when she was four years old. As part of the Harmony Children's Chorus, she has performed at several concerts. She was also a part of a 10-member contingent that performed with the Shillong Chamber Choir, in 2015, in Shillong.

She passed the ABRSM Grade 3 Singing Exam, 2016 with distinction, securing the highest marks in the south zone, becoming one among the high achievers in the grade.
