A 24-year-old Bengaluru man was allegedly abducted and murdered by a group of men, who were his friends, for a mocking comment on Facebook.

The incident reportedly took place in Chikkajala police station limits in Bengaluru on Monday night.

According to Bangalore Mirror report, twenty-four-year-old Arun Rao was murdered for saying `Hi Shishya' while chatting with one of his friends.

Arun, who was a resident of Bettahalasuru, was a friend of the accused Sandeep, lived in Hunesemarenahalli, near Kempegowda International airport.

About two weeks ago, Arun replied to his friend Ajith’s message to Sandeep on FB saying `Hi Shishya'- which means disciple, but in Kannada means ‘camp follower’, reported The Times of India.

However, this sparked an argument that escalated into a quarrel between Arun and Sandeep’s friends too.

In order to keep her son away from trouble, Arun’s mother Amaravathi, sent his son to her sister’s house in Tamil Nadu. When he returned on February 26, Amaravathi stopped him from going to work, reported BM.

On Monday, Sandeep and his friends reportedly came to Arun’s house and took him out to speak to him. When Arun did not return, Amaravathi went to look out for him and found his friends beating him up nearby. When she went to help Arun, the group took away Arun in a car bearing registration number KA-50-A-2128, reported Bangalore Mirror.

Arun’s brother and his friends went out looking for Arun only to find him bleeding from his abdomen near Bagalur cross. He was stabbed in his abdomen multiple times and died while undergoing treatment in Baptist hospital.

Police said Arun was an employee of a cargo firm in Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and Sandeep was his friend from college. They were all dropouts and hang around in the area by making groups

“We have detained a few persons in connection with the kidnap and murder to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder,” Chikkajala police said.

This is an aggregated report from Bangalore Mirror and The Times of India
