A Bengaluru man has alleged that Congress MLA NA Haris’s son Umar assaulted him on Monday night and that the police were refusing to file an FIR.

According to a News9 report on Wednesday, the man had alleged that Umar had assaulted him outside a pub in the Shantinagar area of the city. He also alleged that the Ashok Nagar police refused to register his complaint against the MLA’s son.

Ashok nagar police Inspector told The News Minute that the police conducted a preliminary inquiry based on media reports and found that no assault took place.

“We were informed by the pub staff in Shantinagar that no assault took place. However, they confirmed that a minor altercation did take placeon Monday night,” he said.

In April, a security guard at the Bowring Institute had filed a complaint against three assailants including one person who claimed to be the MLA’s son for allegedly assaulting him. The three men attacked the security guard after he objected to them parking their vehicle in the parking area. Haris had denied the that his son was involved.
