A Bengaluru realtor had llegedly shot his wife’s lover, Amith, on Friday after which the woman killed herself.

Following the investigation into the Amith murder case, the Bengaluru police have found that the victim, Shruthi Gowda, 29, had called her cousin, who also lives in the city, and asked for her forgiveness for creating the “worst situation”, and had informed her cousin that she would end her life, a report by the New Indian Express states.

The realtor, Rajesh and his father Gopalakrishna, have surrendered at the Soladevanahalli police station.

Rajesh had called Shruthi on Friday afternoon and she had told him that she would return home early to prepare for Sankranti celebrations. Shruthi later called Rajesh and told him that she was in a meeting and had also sent him a photo of a meeting that was held previously, the report adds.

The police also discovered that if Shruthi’s phone was busy, Rajesh would immediately call Amith, to see if they were talking to each other. Rajesh had also forced her to show him her text messages and he had found that she had been in contact with Amith. The couple had fought over this issue multiple times, the report adds.

Police said Shruthi and Rajesh got married when she was pursuing her PUC. He encouraged her to study further and she completed her degree. Shruthi worked as a panchayat development officer and the couple have two children. She was also preparing for Karnataka Administrative Services exam, the report says.

The police have collected evidence and statements of the prime accused Rajesh and his father Gopalkrishna Gowda have been video-recorded. The police are also questioning Rajesh to ascertain if a third party had provided him with information on Amith’s movements or if he was encouraged to commit the crime, another report by TNIE states.

However, a relative of Amith said that Shruthi had sought legal help from Amith as he was a practicing advocate regarding Rajesh constantly suspecting her fidelity. The relative also said that Shruthii was in contact with another PDO and that Rajesh mistook Amith to be the one having an affair with Shruthi and shot him. The police countered the statement and said that it was immaterial as Rajesh knew about his target, the report adds.
