Days after the Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sadashivnagar of Bengaluru was let out on bail after he was charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Deccan Chronicle on Sunday reported that he is likely to be transferred to Karwar.

Quoting an unnamed source, the report states that the school has decided against suspending Kumar Thakur and will transfer him to a different branch of the school following “public pressure.”

"We can't suspend him from the service at this stage. Keeping in mind public pressure, he would be transferred to Karwar soon," sources was quoted as saying.

The latest development comes in the backdrop of Karnataka Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KCPCR) gearing up to question the commissioner of the school, for having failed to follow its directive to suspend the accused Principal. The commission will reportedly summon the school official on Monday.

TNM had earlier reported that the Karnataka Child Protection policy states that a person booked in such charges should be suspended.

Kumar allegedly sexually harassed teachers and students through his WhatsApp texts and would call girl students of class 12 to his room and pass lewd comments. The teachers filed a complaint with the Child Helpline on January 14, after which the Child Helpline nodal officer approached Police Commissioner Praveen Sood on January 24.

The Police Commissioner had put DCP Central Chandragupta in charge of the investigation.
