The News Minute| September 8, 2014| 9.00 am IST Bangalore police have rescued five babies from a group of beggars who were operating near Frazer Town and Kammanahalli region in the city. Police believe the five babies were either kidnapped from their parents or sold by poor parents. The rescued children include four girls and aboy.A report in Deccan Herald says the babies were found to be drugged, and though the gang claimed the babies were their own, police have enough reasons to believe they are lying. While the investigators are trying to establish who the parents are, some in the begging racket have confessed to drugging the babies. This is not the first time that babies are being rescued from begging rackets. Almost each time, they follow the same modus operandi of either kidnapping or procuring a child from a poor parent. The children are drugged with pills or alcohol, so they would sleep through the day.
