Filmmaker Bala has teamed up with Jyothika and actor-composer G.V Prakash Kumar for the upcoming film Nachiyaar, which is said to be based on certain real life incidents. The project is almost complete with just over a week of shoot left.

It is said to be an action thriller and will give Jyothika, who is currently awaiting the release of Magalir Mattum to indulge in some action. ““It will be Jyotika’s most commercial role yet. She accepted the offer because in her decade-long career she hasn’t played anything close to what she will be essaying in this project,” a source said.

Jyothika, according to the source, plays a cop while Prakash will be seen essaying a negative character.

The film went on the floors earlier this year in March, and it is jointly produced by Bala’s B Studios and Eon Studios. There are also rumours that the film is based on the life of psycho killer Jayaprakash, the man who was found guilty for the cold-blooded murder spree of nine of his family members in Valasaravakkam, Chennai in the mid-1980s.

The film has music by maestro Ilayaraja.  It must be noted that Ilaiyaraaja won the National Film Award for ‘Best Background Score’ for his tremendous work in Bala’s last outing Thaarai Thappattai, which tanked at the box office. Since Nachiyaar marks the fifth collaboration between Raja and Bala, the expectation among music connoisseurs is palpable on social media platforms.

Popular producer Rockline Venkatesh plays a pivotal role in the film, which is likely to hit the screens in September, according to the source.
