A Bengaluru man woke up in the middle of the night due to loud noises and spotted a few men smoking outside his house. He approached them and asked them to stop smoking. Little did he know that this reprimand would get him killed.

The 32-year-old man was brutally hacked to death by a group of four men as he scolded them for smoking and causing a ruckus outside his house in Bengaluru’s Ashok Nagar in the wee hours of Sunday, Deccan Chronical.

According to the Ashok Nagar Police, the deceased Harish, a resident of ‘B’ Street, in Ashok Nagar, woke up around 2 am when he heard a loud noise. 

When he came out of his house, he saw that a Dasara procession was in progress and saw four men smoking and talking loudly outside his home. 

Harish allegedly reprimanded the four men for smoking outside his home and asked them to go away, the DC report added.

“We have questioned Harish’s relatives and they say that Harish asked them to give up smoking, by saying it was bad for their health. This led to an argument but the men eventually went away,” an officer with the Ashok Nagar Police said. 

Little did Harish know that the four men would return with knives after a few minutes. Up on spotting Harish outside his home, watching the procession, they waylaid him, brutally hacked him to death and fled the spot, the officer said.

Harish’s parents took rushed him to Mallya Hospital where he died hours later. Ashok Nagar Police say that they have leads on the suspects and would nab them soon.

A case of murder has been registered at the Ashok Nagar Police Station.
