There has been enough speculation about director Atlee making his debut in Tollywood. While films buffs have been waiting eagerly for more news about his Tollywood debut, the director has confirmed that his next would be a Tamil film, thereby putting an end to all the rumours. Atlee was in Tirupati recently where he met a few reporters and clarified about his next project.

Recently, writer Ramana Giri Vasan, who had associated with Atlee in Theri and Mersal, has said that Atlee is currently is busy with his next, which will be a Tamil film. He added it would be a complete family entertainer with mass hero elements. The hero has not been finalised yet, he clarified. Ramana Giri Vasan and Atlee have been associates for the past ten years and are completely in sync with each other.

Director Atlee began his career as an assistant director to Shankar, working with him in films such as Endhiran and Nanban. He went on to direct his debut directorial Raja Rani, which had Arya, Nayanthara, Jai and Nazriya in the lead roles, and turned out become a blockbuster hit. He then directed two films – Theri and Mersal – both of which had Vijay in the lead role.

It may be noted here that Raja Rani won Atlee the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Dialogue Writer while Theri earned him the SIIMA and IIFA Utsavam Awards for Best Director.

There have been reports of Atlee roping in Vijay once again for his next, but he remains tight-lipped about it till now.

With Atlee making it clear that his next would be a Tamil film, expectations are going up among film buffs, especially among Vijay fans who hope they will team up for a hat trick.
