Vijay’s upcoming film with director Atlee, dubbed Vijay 63, has run into trouble. According to reports, Shiva, an aspiring director, has approached the Writers’ Union with a claim that the story is based on his short film. His complaint is that one of the production houses had passed on the story to Atlee, who is now making a film based on it with Vijay.

Sources told DTnext, “Shiva is an aspiring director who had directed a short film based on women’s football. To develop it into a feature film, he had approached a few leading production companies that we don’t want to disclose. The story has been leaked by one of the producers to Atlee, who has developed on the storyline for Vijay 63.”

However, according to the Writers’ Union, they couldn’t take up Shiva’s complaint as he has just joined the union and rules and regulations state that members have to be with the union for at least 6 months before their complaints can be taken up. He has knocked at the doors of the High Court of Madras for relief and we can expect a judgment on it anytime soon.

It may be recalled here that producer Kathiresan had accused Atlee of plagiarising Mersal as it had similarities with the Rajinikanth starrer Moondru Mugam.

Having worked with Vijay in Mersal and the film turning out to be a big success, Atlee is associating with Vijay for the second time. Vijay 63 has Nayanthara playing the lead opposite Vijay. Touted to be a sports drama, the film will have Vijay playing a football coach. Sources in the know say that around 16 debutants have been roped in to play football players in this flick.

Besides Vijay and Nayanthara, the star cast also includes Kathir, Daniel Balaji, Yogi Babu, Sai Dheena, Vivek, Anandraj and others. Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman has been roped in to compose the tunes for this flick, which is bankrolled by AGS Entertainments. GK Vishnu is cranking the camera for this film with Anthony L Ruben being signed up for editing.
