More and more smartphone makers are looking at ways to eliminate the notch from their smartphone’s display screen. Some latest renders show the concept of a smartphone that has two sliders that can pan out from the top and bottom of the phone. These renders have been tweeted by Evan Blass, a well-known name for leaks of smartphones.

These renders show several features of the concept phone but there is no clarity yet on what the phone’s model number is and when it would be released if at all.

As mentioned, the phone has no notch and sports an edge-to-edge display. The slider at the bottom carries a Harman Kardon speaker while the slider on top has the front selfie camera, which is a dual sensor setup. One of the shooters is a 120-degree wide angle lens. Blass says the phone will be a 5G phone.

Another render, shared in the same Twitter handle by Evan Blass, has another render. Here, while the slider on top houses the front selfie camera as in the previous ones, the bottom slider has the control buttons appearing based on what the phone is being used for.

According to the tweets, the first concept render described above has been designed by the same team that worked on the Asus ZenFone 5.

While these renders and tweets feature Asus phones, there are possibly other phone makers as well toying with similar ideas. ZTE is one such company referred in the reports. There are designs where the sliders on the sides with the cameras and leaving the back panel totally plain. These may indicate the things to come in the industry in the coming years. Ultimately, the phone makers have to look for ways to keep the interest of the customers alive.
