ASUS, the Taiwanese brand has launched Asus ROG Phone II, the successor to its gaming mobile, the Asus ROG Phone.

The new phone comes with some marked improvements over its predecessor and from the Indian market perspective we will see for the first time, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus mobile platform in a phone sold in India.

Getting down to the specifications of this gaming phone right away, it has a 6.59-inch AMOLED display. The phone’s construction is aluminium and glass with the Corning Gorilla Glass 6 offering protection in the front and the rear, both. The screen resolution is full HD+, 2340x1080 pixels. Asus has upped the refresh rate to 120Hz (90Hz on the Asus ROG Phone). There are other features to lift the gaming experience for the users. As mentioned, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ system-on-chip is the processor and the RAM support comes in two variants, 8GB and 12GB. The internal storage is 128GB and 512GB respectively with these two RAM variants. The latest Android Pie is the OS but you can hope that the upgrade to the Android 10 will happen automatically. There’s a huge 6000mAh battery, again keeping the gaming enthusiast in view. The battery gets the Quick Charge 4.0 fast charge support. There is a port provided to add external accessories that the gamers can buy separately and attach and play.

The camera section has a dual-sensor setup in the rear led by a 48MP primary shooter. The other lens us a 13MP ultra-wide one. The front camera for selfies is 24MP in resolution. The rear panel of this phone has the camera set-up on the top-left corner, exhaust vent on the right and RGB LED-powered ROG logo at the centre.

The gaming-centric Asus ROG Phone II smartphone with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced in India at Rs 37,999 and the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant at Rs 59,999. The former goes on sale from September 30 on Flipkart to coincide with the ecommerce giant’s much publicized sale event, Big Billion Days.  The date of release of the 12GB RAM variant is still to be revealed. Look for introductory offers on the platform.
