Malayalam actor Asif Ali has been bagging some very prestigious projects off late. The actor, according to sources, has been signed to play the lead role in the film Kakshi Amminipilla, to be directed by Binjith.

Scheduled to go on the floors on the 20th of next month, it will be the director’s debut venture. The shooting for the film is expected to begin in Thalassery. There are no details yet on the lead opposite Asif or the rest of the cast and crew. Reports say that the details will be divulged officially very soon.

Asif Ali currently has a couple of movies lined up for release this year. He will be seen starring in Mandaram and Iblis. While Mandaram is directed by newbie Vijesh Viay, Iblis will be directed by VS Rohit of Adventures of Omanakuttan fame. The former is a coming of age movie while the latter will be a fantasy film.

Besides these two films, Asif Ali will be collaborating with director Jis Joy with whom he had worked in two movies – Bicycle Thieves and Sunday Holiday – earlier. The film has Aishwarya Lekshmi playing the woman lead with Siddique, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna, KPAC Lalitha, Balu Varghese, Arjun Ashokan and Aju Varghese being a part of the star cast. The actor, it is evident, is very picky about his films and has been choosing different genres to showcase his talent.
