Arya, who played an important role in the Mammootty starrer The Great Father, is happy over its box office success. Apart from playing a role in the movie, Arya is also one of the co-producers of the film. He had produced the film along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Santhosh Sivan and Shaji Nadesan under the banner August Cinemas.

Speaking to a Club FM radio channel about The Great Father, Arya revealed that the film has grossed about Rs. 20 crores at the box office so far. When asked how much he wished the film to earn, Arya said that he wanted the film to reach a larger section of the audience and wished it would hit Rs. 200 crores!

Released on March 30th, 2017, the movie has been directed by Haneef Adeni. The Great Father had grossed Rs. 4.31 crores on the day of its release and this is the highest ever for a Mollywood film so far. In fact, this Mammootty starrer was released in 202 screens and had 958 shows on the day of its release.

Apart from Mammootty and Arya, the film has a huge star cast comprising Sneha, Anikha, Shaam, Malavika Mohanan, Miya George, Kalabhavan Shajon, Santhosh Keezhatoor and I.M Vijayan. The songs in the album have been composed by Gopi Sunder and Sushin Shyam has composed the background score. Arya has acted in two Malayalam films – Urumi and Double Barrel – earlier and The Great Father is his third outing in Mollywood.

Mammootty, happy over the success of the film had posted on Facebook: “I want to thank each and every one of you in making The Great Father such a huge success! It's broken the first day opening collection record, the fastest 20 crores collection to date and all of this with a relatively modest 6 crores budget and made by a first time director. This is a celebration and an eye opener to the size and power of the Malayalam audience like no other ! Here is wishing for our industry to continue growing bigger and better so we can make even better and bolder films!!”
