Director Shakti Sounder Rajan, who had wielded the megaphone for Tik Tik Tik, will soon be making a film starring Arya in the lead. Discussions about this project are currently on and it is expected that the official announcement will be made soon. KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green will be bankrolling this yet-to-be titled film under his banner.
It may be recalled that Arya’s last outing, titled Ghajinikanth, was produced by KE Gnanavel Raja but the film bombed at the box office. Directed by Santhosh P Jayakumar, Ghajinikanth hit the marquee on August 3 this year. The film starred Sayyeshaa Saigal as the female lead with Karunakaran, Sathish, Kaali Venkat, Rajendran, Sampath Raj and others in supporting roles.
Besides the film with Shakti Sounder Rajan, Arya has a bunch of movies including Santhana Devan, the untitled Suriya starrer which will be directed by KV Anand. The yet-untitled film also stars Arya, Mohanlal and Sayyeshaa in key roles.
He also has magnum opus Sanghamitra directed by Sundar C. Tipped to be being made on a budget of INR 150 crore it was launched at Cannes International Film Festival last year. According to sources, the shooting will commence very soon in Hyderabad on the sets very similar to that of Baahubali. It will be filmed on a grand scale and if everything goes according to plan, the first part will be unveiled next year.
Shakti Sounder Rajan made his debut as director with Naanayam in 2010 and later had directed Naaigal Jakirathai with Sibi Raj in the lead. His Miruthan was the first ever Zombie film in the history of Tamil cinema and Tik Tik Tik, which released in June this year, was India’s first space movie.
Naaigal Jakirathai was a critically acclaimed film with a good box office records and his Miruthan was a super hit film as well.
The director is well known for his technical expertise in films. This has naturally upped the expectation levels for the Arya starrer. With the announcement made, movie buffs wonder what genre the director would be touching upon this time around.
