The official announcement is out that Arya’s upcoming film is titled Teddy. From the poster of the film, we can infer that it will be a children’s film. Teddy will be bankrolled by KE Gnanavel Raja and his daughter Aadhana. Shakti Soundar Rajan will be wielding the megaphone for this venture with D Imman roped in for music. Details about the rest of the star cast and crew are expected to be out soon.

The maverick director made his debut with Naanayam in 2010 and went on to direct Naaigal Jaakirathai in 2014. In 2016, he came up with Miruthan, the first ever zombie thriller in the Tamil cinema industry. The film turned out to be a big hit. His Tik Tik Tik, which released last year, was the first ever space film in Indian cinema.

Speaking about Teddy, Shakti Soundar Rajan told the Times of India, “We decided to release the film’s title … as two occasions fell on March 10 – Arya’s wedding and my birthday. Though the movie’s shooting kicks off from Sunday, full-fledged production will start only in May. It will be shot in Chennai and exotic places in Europe. The movie, which has music by D Imman, will be a big-budget one and one-of-its kind in Arya’s career. The rest of the cast of Teddy, including the heroine, will be finalised soon.”

Besides Teddy, Arya also has the Suriya starrer Kappaan needing his attention. Directed by KV Anand, the film is scripted jointly by the director and veteran writer Pattukottai Prabhakar. Kaapaan is bankrolled by A Subashkaran on a huge budget under his banner Lyca Productions. Harris Jayaraj is the music composer for this flick with Abhinandan Ramanujam roped in as the cinematographer and Anthony taking care of the editing. It is also reported that Arya is said to have bagged another project with Lyca Productions. The film will be directed by Muthaiah, popular for his rural-based projects such as Komban and Marudhu.
