The first look of Arvind Swami in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam was released on Monday. This unveiling is the first of the four that were announced on Sunday.

The actor is seen wearing a red shirt and has been introduced as Varadan. Earlier during the day the makers had released a poster with the silhouette of a man standing atop a bridge. Varadan is seen striking an angry pose with the gash on his cheek and a closely cropped hair. Fans can expect three more unveiling of the film’s cast in CCV.

Chekka Chivantha Vaanam will be the fifth time Arvind Swami and Mani Ratnam are collaborating together. Arvind Swami made his acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathy starring alongside Rajinikanth and Mammootty. His last venture as hero with Mani Ratnam was Indira in 1995 in which he shared screen space with Anu Haasan. He also played a cameo in Alaipayuthey.

The film’s shoot was wrapped up in June this year and is currently in its post-production mode. Written by Mani Ratnam and Shiva Ananth, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam has been directed by the former.

Besides the four heroes, Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami and Arun Vijay, the film has a bevy of stars in the cast including Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh and Dayana Erappa. Originally, the film was supposed to star Fahadh Faasil as one of the leads.

Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is bankrolled by Mani Ratnam and Subaskaran under the banners Madras Talkies and Getaway Films and will be distributed by Lyca Productions. According to reports, its Telugu dubbed version has been titled Nawab and will be out at the theatres along with the Tamil version later this year.

The film has a brilliant technical crew, including AR Rahman for music, Santosh Sivan for camera and A Sreekar Prasad for editing. The team is eyeing a September release, provided everything goes as planned.
