Director Arun Prabhu Purushothaman, who made a splash with his critically-acclaimed debut film Aruvi, has been working on his next project for close to a year now. Months after no development on the project’s front, reports have now emerged that the project has been titled Yazh and that it features nonagenarian actor SN Bhatt in the lead.

The film’s shoot has been going on for a few months now and the team is currently on the verge of completion. Apparently, Arun had this film’s script even before he shot Aruvi but had to wait for the right time to make it.

It is rumoured that the story revolves around the life of a 90-year-old, who refuses to come out of his bungalow but his life takes unexpected turns after a couple of youngsters accidentally enter his house.

The film’s rest of the cast and crew are yet unknown. SN Bhatt, who regularly features in commercials, made his acting debut with Balu Mahendra’s Moondram Pirai and went on to work in films such as Madrasapattinam and Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah.

He was seen in a brief role in Jyothika’s Kaatrin Mozhi, directed by Radha Mohan. The project, being bankrolled by 24 AM Studios, went on the floors last May and if everything goes as planned, it is eyeing an August release.

We'll have to wait to see if Yazh will also be sent to different festivals across the globe just like Aruvi, which earned its share of acclaim from making it to several film fests. Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, Aruvi released in cinemas in December 2017 after a successful run at several film festivals across the globe.

It had its world premiere at 16th Shanghai International Film Festival last year and was even screened at Mumbai Film Festival in 2016.
