Arbaaz Khan will be making his big debut in the Malayalam film industry with Big Brother starring megastar Mohanlal in the lead. Reports indicate that the Bollywood actor will be seen as an enforcement officer named Vedantham IPS.

In an interview to TOI, the actor heaped praises on the Mohanlal starrer Lucifer which was actor Prithviraj’s directorial debut. Arbaaz Khan was quoted by the publication as saying, “I watched the film while I was in Kerala; it’s such an outstanding film. Mohanlal sir has performed brilliantly, but I am equally impressed by how Prithviraj sir has directed it. He has done such fabulous work for an actor-turned-director, with some amazing shots and presentation.”

Lucifer, which released in March this year, is a political thriller that appears to have a lot of references from the political parties in the country, with Mohanlal playing a character called Stephen. The cast also includes Tovino Thomas, Indrajith, and the Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. Prithviraj too plays a cameo in the film.

While asked about his Malayalam debut with Mohanlal, the actor said, “I couldn’t have asked for a better movie to make my entry into the industry, because I got to work with the legendary Mohanlal and maverick director Siddique, both of whom have an amazing body of work and following.”

Directed by Siddique, the first schedule of Big Brother began in Ernakulam last month. The film will also feature Anoop Menon, Sarjano Khalid, Satna Titus and others. Mohanlal, Anoop Menon and Sarjano Khalid play brothers in this flick, we hear.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is busy with other acting assignments. He has completed shooting for Marakkar: Arabikdalinte Simham and it has gone into the post-production mode. Directed by Priyadarshan, its technical crew include cinematographer Tirru and editor MS Ayyappan Nair. The film is slated to hit the marquee next year.

The star is currently shooting for Ittymaani: Made in China, which is touted to be a fun entertainer. The film is directed by debut directors Jibi and Joju, and bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas.
