Mukesh Adani, a 37-year-old international dealer who smuggled red sanders was caught by the Kadapa police in Haryana on Saturday. According to a report in Deccan Chornicle, the police confiscated Rs.20 crore worth red sander logs at the Magali area which is in the Hissar district of the state. A special team had got information that Adani purchased the red sanders logs which were cut from the Seshachalam forest in AP and stored it in his godown at Mangali. This is the latest arrest by the AP police after the crack down on smuggling activities was scaled up, through combing operations. Another international smuggler, B. Venkataramana was also arrested along with a few others by the Kadapa Police with sanders worth Rs 9 crore in their possession.  The state has upped the ante against the large scale smuggling of red sanders which is only found in the state of AP and has a high demand in South Asian countries. The police had earlier also arrested YSRCP leader K Mastan Vali and Telugu actress Neetu Agarwal. The string of arrests is being seen as a major success for the Andhra Pradesh Police, which had earlier gunned down 20 woodcutters in Seshachalam forests in Chittoor district.
