AP entrepreneurship platform to host first edition of ‘StartAP Awards’ in Vizag

Applications for the awards across categories such as women entrepreneurship, campus entrepreneurs, HealthTech, DeepTech, travel will close on May 10.

Andhra Pradesh-based startup ecosystem player StartAP will be organizing its first annual StartAP Awards in Visakhapatnam this month. The awards will recognize promising startups, incubators, VC firms, catalysts and individuals.

 There are various categories such as ‘Leader in Campus Entrepreneurship’, which honours startups from college campuses across India. ‘StartAP Under18’ award recognizes entrepreneurs who have earned a reputation by the age of 18. There also awards for CEOs, social entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs.

StartAP is also recognizing startups from various industries such as Healthtech, Fintech, blockchain, deeptech, digital media, Foodtech, Agri-Tech, logistics, travel and Edtech.

In order to apply, startups need to be at least two years old as on April 1, 2018, should either be register in India or have founders who are Indian passport holders.

For the student entrepreneur award, the founders must be presently studying in a college in India or should have not passed out from college later than Jan 1, 2018 and the business idea should be original.

Applications for the awards close on May 10 and the awards will be presented on May 25 in Vishakhapatnam at the StartAP Awards event. Nara Lokesh, IT Minister, Andhra Pradesh will be presenting awards at the event.

According to StartAP, the awards ceremony is expected to have 1000+ special invitees, 200+ Startups, 20 Speakers, three panel discussion with panelists from across the country where we introduce 3 primary award categories to be - Leadership Awards, Organisational Awards and Startup Awards as there are 35+ Awards to be given.

StartAP was formed three years ago, which holds its flagship event StartAP fest every year. Last year saw the third edition of StartAP fest being held in Vijayawada. It also has a ‘StartAP 100 program’, which will see over 800 entrepreneurs being a part of the program. The grand vision is to present 100 progressive startups from the state to the world through StartAP platforms by 2020 through campus initiatives, flagship conferences and supporting ventures.
