The producer of the upcoming film Nishabdham has said in an interview to Cinemaexpress that Anushka Shetty was not the first choice for the film. He was quoted by the Cinemaexpress as saying, “Anushka was not the first choice for the lead role as I had written the script for another female superstar. When I was returning from Mumbai, I spotted Anushka on the same flight. The plane had a punctured tyre and the flight was diverted to Chennai. During this time, I pitched the storyline of Nishabdham to her and within a week she gave the final nod. Casting Anushka, who has been choosy about her projects since Bhaagamathie, worked to our advantage.”

The shooting of the film was wrapped up a few months ago and it is currently in the post production mode. Nishabdham is scheduled to hit the marquee on January 31, confirmed its producer.

Nishabdham is directed by Hemant Madhukar and bankrolled by Kona Venkat and TG Vishwa Prasad under their respective banners Kona Film Corporation and People Media Factory. Michael Madsen of Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs fame plays a pivotal role in the film. The others playing supporting roles in the film include Anjali, Subbaraju, Shalini Pandey and Srinivas Avasarala. Sources in the know say that Nishabdham / Silence is a crossover movie and a silent film and that it will be a unique attempt by the filmmaker.

The team had shot the film in various locations in the US as the story is set there. The technical crew of Nishabdham / Silence includes Gopi Sunder for music and Shaneil Deo for cinematography. Nishabdham will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and English.

It may be noted here that Anushka’s last release as heroine was Bhaagamathie and she took more than a year to finalise her next project.
