Anushka Shetty is playing a speech and hearing impaired person in the upcoming film Nishabdam/Silence and has reportedly done a lot of research to fit into the character she is playing in the film, say sources.

We hear that the actor interacted with a number of speech and hearing impaired people in Hyderabad to get to know their body language better. Further, Anushka underwent training under an expert artist to learn the nuances of painting as it was required for the role she is playing in the film. Interestingly, one of the paintings that she has done during the course of her learning is expected to be used for the film’s promos.

Nishabdam/Silence, starring Anushka and Madhavan, is being directed by Hemant Madhukar and bankrolled by director Kona Venkat. Michael Madsen of Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs fame has been roped in for a pivotal role in the film. Sources in the know say that Nishabdam/Silence is a crossover movie and a silent film. It will be a unique attempt by the filmmaker.

The team has been shooting in various locations in the US as the story is set there. With the weather conditions being extreme and going to minus degrees, it will certainly be hard for the team to shoot. However, the director is intent on shooting the film in those harsh conditions to get the best visuals effects, say sources. The technical crew of Nishabdam/Silence include Gopi Sunder for music and Shaneil Deo for cinematography. The film is a trilingual that will be released in Telugu, Tamil and English.

Apart from this film, Anushka plays a cameo in the Telugu film Sye Raa, which has Chiranjeevi in the lead role. Sye Raa is scheduled to release on October 2.
