Malayalam film Jallikattu, based on the short story ‘Maoist’ penned by S Hareesh, will reportedly hit the marquee in October and the release date will be out soon. The film is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery with Antony Varghese playing the lead role. Phars Films has procured the distribution rights of this film, confirm sources.

Jallikattu is bankrolled by Thomas Panicker under his banner. S Hareesh, in association with R Jayakumar, has penned the screenplay for this venture. The technical crew of this film comprises Girish Gangadharan for cinematography, and Deepu Joseph for editing. Vinayakan and Sabumon Abdusamad are also part of the star cast. 

Lijo Jose’s Angamaly Diaries, released on March 3, 2017, turned out to be one of the biggest hits in the Malayalam film industry, which has upped the expectations from Jallikattu. Written by Chemban Vinod Jose, Angamaly Diaries was produced by Vijay Babu under his banner Friday Film House. With 86 debutants in the star cast, the film’s main hero happens to be Angamaly, a small town near Ernakulam in Kerala. Angamaly Diaries had a unique narrative style which was well received by the critics and audiences too.

Starring a bevy of youngsters like Antony Varghese, Reshma Rajan, Kichu Tellus, Ullas Jose Chemban, Sinoj, Varghese, and others, the film had music by Prashant Pillai. Girish Ganghadaran had handled cinematography for this venture, with Shameer Mohammed editing it. The film had grossed about Rs 20 crores at the box office.

The director’s last film release was Ee Ma Yau, which has Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Dileesh Pothan playing pivotal roles. PF Mathews has penned the script for this venture.
