Even as Hyderabad reels from the shock of a young veterinary doctor being gangraped, murdered and her body burnt on the outskirts of the city, the police have confirmed that the burnt body of another woman has been found.
According to the police, the body was found near a small temple by people who passed by the temple. They found the body burning at Siddulagutta, just a few kilometres away from where the vet was abducted, before she was murdered and her body was taken and burnt near Chatanpally village near Shadnagar. The police are also looking at the angle of self immolation.
“We got to know about the incident at around 9 pm. Four persons who were passing by, saw the burning body and called 100. The body was still burning when the patrol parties arrived. The witnesses tried to douse the fire using blankets," Ashok Kumar, Shamshabad ACP told the media.
Police came across the second body barely hours after the Cyberabad police arrested four for the gangrape and murder of a 26-year-old veterinary doctor, a resident of Shamshabad.
The four arrested are Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu. All of them are truck drivers who had plotted to rape her, according to the police.
The vet had parked her bike near the Shamshabad toll plaza before taking a cab to Gachibowli on Wednesday evening. When she returned to the spot at around 9.30 pm, she found that her bike tyre was deflated. A lorry driver, who is the prime accused in the case, insisted on helping her, despite her refusal.
The woman immediately called her sister and told her that she was scared. Her phone was later switched off, after which the family lodged a police complaint. Her charred remains were found the next morning by a farmer.
