Days after the rape of a minor in Dachepalli triggered off massive protests across Andhra Pradesh, yet another similar incident has surfaced.

A 14-year-old minor girl was allegedly repeatedly raped and impregnated in the town in Guntur district by a local TDP leader for four months and threatened to stay quiet on the crime.

The incident came to light when the girl and her family lodged a complaint with the Dachepalli police on Saturday and the accused was identified as 43-year-old Mahbub Vali, a local TDP leader.

The girl was sent to the Gurazala Government Hospital for a medical test, which found out that she was three months pregnant.

The police have registered a case under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO Act.

Ironically, this incident came to light just days after TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said, “Dachepalle incident should be the last one and for those resorting to such crimes, it will be their last day on the earth.  Everyone should condemn such incidents.  Change in the mindset of the people is the need of the hour. We should not treat woman as a plaything. We should respect them."

Calling for publicly hanging the rapists, Naidu had earlier said his government would be tough in dealing with such criminals.

He was addressing a massive rally, which was held days after a minor girl was raped by a 50-year-old rickshaw puller in Dachepalli in Guntur district, causing massive public outrage. The accused later committed suicide by hanging near the village.

Earlier, Naidu called on the victim at a government-run hospital in Guntur town, and said he would provide his personal money for her education till she achieves her goal in the life.

The state government has already announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the family of the victim. Naidu announced that another Rs 5 lakh would be made fixed deposit in the girl's name. He also assured two acres of land for the family for agriculture, a job to her father and house site.
