Anoop Menon will be making his directorial debut with the Malayalam movie King Fish. He will be playing the main lead in this film with director Ranjith playing an important role as well.

King Fish is the tale of a king set in the modern times. Named Bhaskara Varma, Anoop will be playing Ranjith’s nephew in the film. Ranjith’s character in the film is named Neelakanta Varma. A poster of the film was released recently, showing one of them playing the guitar and the other listening – might remind you of the film Beautiful where Anoop Menon played the guitar for Jayasurya’s character but in King Fish, he is the listener.

The film will have three heroines - Durga Krishna, Niranjana Anoop and NP Nisa.

On the film, Anoop Menon has told in an earlier interview to the Times of India, “King Fish is a rom-com that revolves around Bhaskara Varma, who is a royal family member. People fondly call him Neymeen Bhasi and the film gets its title from the English name of Neymeen, King Fish.”

Explaining about Ranjith’s role in the film, Anoop Menon said, “He is a whacky old-man with a happy-go-lucky attitude and the duo share a fabulous relationship. They live a carefree life and it has significance in the movie.”

The film will be shot in various places including Ranni, Konni, Ernakulam, Mumbai and Dubai, we hear. Mahadevan Thampi, a renowned photographer, will be the cinematographer and Ratheesh Vega has been roped in to compose the music.

Anoop Menon is a well known actor and a screen writer as well. He has worked as screen writer in various films including Beautiful, Trivandrum Lodge, David and Goliath and Hotel California. Anoop has also penned songs for films like Beautiful and Buddy and has done several television shows.
