Nayanthara, whose films Aramm, Dora, Jai Simha and Velaikkaran were well received last year, is gearing up for the release of upcoming Tamil thriller Kolamavu Kokila a.k.a CoCo. Directed by debutant Nelson Dilip Kumar, the film is most likely going to be her first release of the year.
In the film, she plays a simple girl who, when pushed into an unexpected situation, has to fight for her own for survival. CoCo has music by Anirudh Ravichander who, according to various reports, is said to have played a cameo in the film.
Over the last couple of days, reports about Anirudh playing the male lead in Nayanthara's CoCo have been doing the rounds. However, reliable sources close to the makers have clarified and added that Anirudh has not starred in the film.
“Anirudh has just composed music. These reports are quite funny. The film has been completed and the team is currently busy with post-production. Once the strike gets over, we’d some clarity regarding the release,” a source said.
Produced by Lyca Productions, Kolamavu Kokila joins the company’s long list of films that have been completed but are struggling to hit the screens. CoCo also stars Saranya Ponvannan and Yogi Babu in important roles.
Anirudh is certainly on a roll with a number of films coming, the young composer will score the music for Rajinikanth's next yet-to-be-titled film, in which he teams up with Karthik Subbaraj for the first time.
This will also be the first time collaboration for Anirudh with Rajinikanth. And reports also hint that Anirudh is most likely to be brought on board for the highly anticipated sequel to Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 directed by Shankar.
Meanwhile, Nayanthara is said to have joined the sets of Chiranjeevi’s upcoming magnum opus Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. This year, she will also be seen in Ajith’s Viswasam, which is yet to go on the floors.
Apparently, she had set aside dates for Viswasam in March, but due to the ongoing strike she decided use these days for Sye Raa, in which she teams up with Chiranjeevi for the first time.
