Last seen playing a pivotal role in Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai, actor-singer Andrea Jeremiah is all set to don the khaki for the first time in her career in the upcoming Tamil horror-thriller directed by Dil Sathya, a popular choreographer-turned-director. Interestingly, the film will also feature Andrea playing a princess in a period portion.

Talking about the film, Sathya told the Times of India: “The film is a mix of many genres – action, fantasy and horror. The princess character is part of the fantasy portion, which makes for more than an hour of the film’s running time. These scenes are set about 400 years in the past.”

Sathya further added that Andrea’s cop character ventures into a palace, which is believed to be haunted, for an investigation and learns about her past there. Andrea will be seen performing stunts without a body double in the film. The film has been predominantly shot in Chennai and Kochi. Maaligai also stars Sandalwood actor Karthik Jayaram in the lead with Andrea, as well as Ashutosh Rana, KS Ravikumar, Manobala, Aadukalam Naren, Madhumita and popular Telugu comedian Ali in key roles.

Andrea recently hogged the limelight with her noteworthy performances in critically-acclaimed films such as Vada Chennai, Taramani and Thupparivaalan. Last year, she signed a woman-centric thriller called Kaa. The film, to be directed by debutant Nanjil, will feature Andrea in the role of a wildlife photographer. The project has been in the pipeline for a long time and is finally getting made. At the launch, Andrea said it’s been worth the wait. To be shot entirely in a forest, the project will be filmed in places such as Munnar, Western Ghats, Jharkhand, and Andaman and Nicobar. Andrea will return to play her role in the second part of Vada Chennai, which is slated to go on the floors later this year.
