The News Minute | December 18, 2014 | 8:15 am ISTThe Andhra Pradesh assembly is scheduled to commence the five-day winter session from Thursday. The session is expected to be a stormy one with the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) plans to bring up several issues about the TDP led Government in the state. The state is facing a noticeable number of farmer suicides and opposition against the land pooling for the new capital for which farmers refuse to give their land even with the current compensation package.According to a report in Times of India, the opening day will not have any business being transacted due to death of sitting Tirupati MLA M Venkataramana from the TDP two days ago.Reports suggest that the Congress and the YSRCP are likely to raise issues like capital land pooling and lack of transparency and involvement of opposition parties on the role of Japan and Singapore in constructing the state’s new capital. The YSR Congress is also likely to demand an extension of the sessions to meet for 10 days, the TOI report adds.
