The Andhra Director General of Police, Sambasiva Rao, while addressing a set of students in a scholarship distribution event for police families, lauded Mahesh Babu for starring in a film like Srimanthudu as the film conveyed a social message.

He is reported to have said, “students have to be quite careful about their career. They should not get addicted to drugs and it is also the responsibility of the parents to keep a close watch on their children for their better future. Policemen are a role model for the society and they should be even more cautious on the future of their children.”

Stating that he had watched the film nearly 70 times, the DGP said he particularly liked the dialogue “Andaru Neeku Andamayina vaadu puttadra antaaru gani, naku manchodu puttadra.”

Directed by Koratala Siva, Srimanthudu was produced by Y Naveen, Y Ravi Shankar, CV Mohan, and Mahesh Babu under the banners G Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd and Mythri Movie Makers.

Released on August 7, 2015, the film had Mahesh Babu and Shruti Haasan playing the lead pair with Rajendra Prasad, Jagapathi Babu, Sampath Raj, Harish Uthaman, and Vennela Kishore in the star cast.

Devi Sri Prasad had composed music for this venture with R Madhi handling the cinematography and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao editing it.

The film was made on a budget of Rs 40 crore and went on to collect over Rs. 100 crore at the box office, making it one of the biggest hits in Mahesh Babu and Koratala Siva’s career.

With the DGP revealing that he liked the films so much for its socially relevant subject, Mahesh Babu’s fans are hoping that he would do more such films.
