Rubbishing the attack on Andhra Pradesh Opposition Leader, YS Jaganmohan Reddy as a ‘drama’ orchestrated by the BJP and the YSRCP, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at the Centre for continuously attacking them and attempting to overthrow the TDP-led government. Naidu said that in his career spanning 40 years, he had never witnessed such vendetta in politics.

The visibly agitated Chief Minister also slammed the Governor, ESL Narasimhan, for directly calling the Director General of Police to ask for a report on the incident, rather than approaching him. “I am the administrator, why didn’t he call me? I am a senior leader. Through this [episode] I also want to create a discussion on the role of a Governor in the country. I have seen many Governor’s in my career. What he [Narasimhan] did was wrong,” Naidu said.

Addressing the press on Thursday evening, Naidu accused the Centre of intimidating them. He said that the entire ‘drama’ was scripted by the Centre to create a law and order situation in the state and bring in President’s rule in the state. Cautioning the BJP against using the CBI, ED and other law enforcement agencies, he said that all their actions would boomerang.

Naidu said that the YSRCP created mayhem in the state in a span of a mere thirty minute by blocking roads and involving in vandalism, during the time he was in a meeting with the district collectors.

Replying to GVL Narasimha Rao’s comments referring to TDP workers as the ‘mafia’ and his allegations that the TDP was behind the attack, Naidu warned Rao against making such accusations. Rao also sought an investigation by a sitting judge, scorning this, Naidu said, “Let them do whatever they want.” He added that the incident had taken place in the jurisdiction of the Centre, and asked how the state government could be held responsible.

Naidu also stated that he would not support violence against anyone, but also added that the entire incident was a drama scripted by the BJP and enacted by Jagan. “The accused is also a fan of Jagan,” he said.

The police who investigated the attacker, Srinivasa Rao, waiter at the airport found that he was a fan of YS Jaganmohan Reddy and claimed that Rao attacked Jagan for publicity.

On Thursday noon, YS Jaganmohan Reddy was attacked with a sharp weapon in the Vizag airport. Jagan was on his way to Hyderabad when the incident took place. Reportedly, on the pretext of clicking a selfie with Jagan, the accused attacked him with the knife, leaving the YSRCP leader with an injury in his left arm.
