Amala Paul, who is currently shooting for forest-based action thriller Adho Ando Paravai Pola, has signed her next Tamil film. Weeks after signing her first Bollywood project opposite Arjun Rampal, Amala has signed a new Tamil project titled Aadai with director Rathna Kumar of Meyadha Maan fame.

Talking to Times of India, Rathna Kumar revealed: “When we say that a film revolves around the heroine’s character, people assume it would talk about women empowerment, self- realization or be a horror drama. We don’t make any wacky comedy. This film will be that. There’s an element of dark comedy in this film.”

Kumar revealed that the film will be shot in and around Chennai. He also added that the film will mostly feature newcomers. The project is slated to go on the floors very soon. Meanwhile, Amala is gearing up her Bollywood debut.

The Mynaa star will be paired with Arjun Rampal in her Bollywood debut film, which will be directed by Naresh Malhotra. “Naresh had seen some of my work in Tamil and approached me for the project. I met him for a narration and was excited. There was no audition and the role was tailor-made for me,” Amala was quoted by a report in Manorama Online. The regular shooting of the project will commence from October in the Himalayas.

Last seen playing a pivotal role in Arvind Swami’s Bhaskar Oru Rascal, Amala earlier this year bagged a plum role in Prithviraj’s highly anticipated Aadujeevitham. On signing the project, Amala took to Twitter to share the news. “Happy and honoured to be part of Blessy’s Aadujeevitham as Sainu, which is set to be a visual spectacle in 3D along with Prithviraj, legend AR Rahman, Resul Pookutty and KU Mohanan. This gathering of master is going to make waves in world cinema.”

According to director Blessy, it’s going to be the most challenging role in Amala’s career. He had also said that Malayalam filmdom is yet to fully realize Amala’s potential.
