All eyes were on Amala Paul as the actor made an appearance for the audio launch of her upcoming film Thiruttu Payale 2 on Sunday.
The actor, who had been criticized earlier for the film's poster in which she wears a saree with her navel showing, turned up at her stylish best.
Ever since her divorce from director AL Vijay, Amala has been under intense scrutiny from the media as well as the public. She has been viciously trolled for still looking "glamorous" and attending public events without dressing "appropriately".
Memes attacking the actor for her attitude and clothing surface every time she puts up a picture that doesn't fit the "moral" standards of trolls. The response to the Thiruttu Payale poster, too, stems from the same judgmental attitude.
This time around though, the comments about her clothes are surprisingly positive despite entertainment websites calling her chosen attire "shocking" and "revealing". While a few have attempted to shame her, such comments do not make up the majority.
Amala, who looked fabulous in a deep blue blouse with a plunging neckline and a long floral skirt, seems to have succeeded in shutting down her detractors by doing exactly what she wants and offering no explanations.
The actor, whose last release was VIP 2, said at the event that she was very happy to work with the team of Thiruttu Payale. Commenting on her co-star Bobby Simha, Amala said, "It was fun to work with Bobby. There were scenes in which we had to be intimate. But he was shy. He is a very committed actor.”
