Sharwanand and Ritu Varma are playing the lead role in the upcoming bilingual that is directed by debutant Shree Karthick. Noted director Tharun Bhascker is penning the dialogues for it. According to the latest reports, veteran actor Amala Akkineni has been signed up to play the hero’s mother in the film. Interestingly, Ravi Raghavendra, father of well-known music composer Anirudh, will be seen as Sharwanand’s dad.

Reports are that the shooting of this bilingual, made in Tamil and Telugu, is happening at a brisk pace in Hyderabad and scenes involving Sharwanand, Amala Akkineni and Ravi Raghavendra are being shot. The star cast also include Nassar, Vennela Kishore, and Priyadarshi Pullikonda. The film is bankrolled under the banner Dream Warrior Pictures.

The last movie she was seen in was the Bollywood flick Karwaan, which hit the marquee last year. It was a comedy drama directed by Akarsh Khurana and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Priti Rathi Gupta under the banners RSVP Movies and Ishka Films. The film had Kriti Kharbanda making a cameo appearance with Amala Akkineni in a pivotal role. The technical crew comprised Prateek Khuhad, Anurag Saikia, and Imaad Shah for music while Avinash Arun cranked the camera and Ajay Sharma edited the film. Bejoy Nambiar penned the story for Karwaan and Akarsh Khurana directed the film besides penning the screenplay.

Amala was last seen in a web series titled High Priestess directed by Pushpa and bankrolled by actor Krishna under his banner Tribal Horse Entertainments. It premiered on April 25th on the OTT platform Zee 5. The web series, besides Amala, has Kishore, Sunainaa, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vijayalakshmi and Aadhav Kannadasan in important roles.

Amala Akkineni was one of the top-ranking heroines in the late 1980s and early 90s. She quit movies to settle down after her marriage to the Tollywood star Nagarjuna. The actor staged a comeback into the filmdom with Life is Beautiful in 2012. She played a key role in the film and then went on to star in Manam, a film bankrolled by her home production in 2014.
