It looks like director Alphonse Puthren’s Tamil film with Kalidas Jayaram in the lead has been dropped. Sources in the know say that Alphonse has scrapped the film and is working on a fresh project. Apparently, this will be a Tamil film as well. But it is not clear if the director would rope in Kalidas again for the project.
Nearly two years ago, the Premam director had announced that he would be making a Tamil film with Kalidas Jayaram in the lead. The director also took to social media to make the official announcement and wrote: “I’m going to start working on the third film which has nothing new in it. This time, we are looking for a girl who knows to sing and act. Age 16- 26. About the film’s cast and crew, I will update later. The film will be in Tamil.”
Almost a year after this announcement was made, Kalidas had confirmed in an interview, “I have signed Alphonse Puthren’s Tamil film. It has an interesting storyline. I am a fan of Alphonse chettan’s films and feel lucky to be part of this one.”
Kalidas’s last release Mr and Mrs Rowdy, directed by Jeethu Joseph, has not received good reviews. Playing a small time goon he acts opposite Aparna Balamurali in the film.
This week again, he would have another release - Argentina Fans Kaattoorkadavu – which will come out on March 1. The film’s screenplay was penned jointly by its director Midhun Manuel Thomas and John Manthrickal and it is bankrolled by Ashiq Usman under the banner Ashiq Usman Productions.
Soon after he made his debut as a grownup in Poomaram, following a stint as a child actor, Kalidas has been signed up for a number of films. The young actor is currently busy with ace cinematographer and director Santosh Sivan’s film titled Jack and Jill. He will also be seen in Happy Singh. Kalidas will be playing the title role in the movie that will also have the Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey playing an important role.
