Director Alphonse Putharen’s next will star Siddharth and Kalidas Jayaram in the lead roles, confirm sources in the know. There have been reports earlier this year that the director would wield the megaphone for a Tamil movie and now the announcement comes in about the lead stars to be cast in it.
Alphonse Putharen, known for making films like Neram, a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam and Premam, which went to become a cult hit, will begin shooting for this film very soon. Currently, in the pre-production mode, the director is busy assembling his star cast and crew. Reports are that he will be retaining his core Neram and Premam technical team which includes music composer Rajesh Murugesan and cinematographer Anand C Chandran.
It may be recalled that Alphonse Putharen had come out with a casting call some months ago inviting applications from young ladies who are proficient in acting as well as Carnatic music. The director also called up assistant directors, who can speak, read and write Tamil well.
While there were a lot of speculations that Nivin Pauly who had worked with the director in Neram and Premam would be teaming up with him again, news that Siddharth and Kalidas Jayaram will be playing the male leads has put all speculations to rest.
Premam, which was made on a budget of Rs. 4 crore went on to collect Rs. 87 crores. The hit film, which was remade in Telugu under the same title, was directed by Chandoo Mondeti. Neram, on the other hand, was made on a budget of Rs. 1.5 crore and collected Rs. 25 crores in Tamil and Malayalam.
