Stylish star Allu Arjun’s Naa Peru Surya has been the next big Telugu release after Rangasthalam and Bharat Ane Nenu, both of which have done blockbuster business at the box office. The news is that the movie has reportedly collected a share of Rs 40 crores on day 1 worldwide and a whopping Rs 85.32 crore during the first weekend. This is the biggest opener for an Allu Arjun film so far. According to reports, the occupancy at multiplexes for the film in Hyderabad stood at more than 90%.

Going by the reports doing the rounds in Tollywood, we hear that the film has surpassed the half a million mark overseas, but it will struggle to touch the million dollar mark.

The dubbed Tamil version of the film, En Peru Surya En Veedu India, was released in Tamil Nadu simultaneously with the Telugu version on May 4. The movie has managed to fetch more than 200 screens across TN. With such high numbers, En Peru Surya En Veedu India has become one of the biggest releases since Baahubali 2.

Naa Peru Surya, made on a big budget of Rs 55 crore, marked the directorial debut of ace writer Vakkantham Vamsi. The film’s theatrical rights have been sold for a whopping Rs 75 crore.

The film has Allu Arjun playing an army officer who suffers from anger management issues. His uncontrollable rage costs him his place in the army. He is allowed to return on one condition. This challenge takes him on a journey where he revisits his past and discovers things about himself he didn’t know.

The film stars Anu Emmanuel, Arjun Sarja, Harish Uthaman, Sarathkumar, Thakur Anoop Singh, Boman Irani, Rao Ramesh and Vennela Kishore in pivotal roles. Bankrolled by Nagendra Babu and Sridhar Lagadapati under the banner name Ramalakshmi Cine Creations, the film has music by Bollywood composer duo Vishal-Shekhar.
