Top production houses have always vied to bag the remake rights of hit movies. The latest to join this list is the Hindi flick Gully Boy. The film, which had Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, is all set to be remade in Telugu. Popular Producer Allu Aravind has bagged the remake rights of Gully Boy.

Initially there were reports that Sai Dharam Tej would be roped in for the lead role played by Ranveer Singh in the original movie. And later reports pointed out that Vijay Deverakonda of Arjun Reddy fame will be reprising the role. While there is no official word from the makers, a source responding to the rumours told Silver Screen, “This news is not true, they are just rumours. There has been no confirmation regarding a Telugu remake or Vijay Devarakonda’s participation."

Gully Boy, released earlier this year, is a musical drama written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, and directed by Akhtar. The film was bankrolled by Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar under the banners of Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment productions. It had Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles with Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Raaz in supporting roles. Gully Boy was premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 9 this year and released on February 15 to positive reviews from critics. Details of the remake in Telugu including the director and the rest of the star cast and crew are expected to be disclosed very soon.

Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda recently went on to sign a new film titled Hero. Anand Annamalai, the dialogue writer for the critically acclaimed film Kakka Muttai, will be directing this film. Reports are that it is a sports-musical. Deverakonda will be playing a professional biker in the movie and will be undergoing rigorous training for the role. On the heroine roped in for Hero, we hear that it will be Malavika Mohanan.
