The Prime Minister’s wife on paper, Jashodaben Modi, has filed an RTI yesterday questioning the security provided to her.
Ashok Modi, her brother told the Indian Express that 10 SPG commandos had been following her. Elaborating, he also mentioned that “What necessary facilities should a PM’s wife be getting; the love that she should be getting is not being given to her”.
The first time the issue of Narendra Modi’s wife was raised was in a by-election to an assembly seat from Rajkot, three months after he’d first become the CM of Gujarat. He had since left the column blank in four assembly nomination papers but filled in Jashodaben’s name in the 2014 Lok Sabha poll nomination papers.
Reportedly, this was on legal advice lest he violate the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
Speaking to various media outlets since she was first tracked by the Indian Express, she has expressed a desire to be re-united with the Prime Minister.
Speaking to the NDTV recently she had said, “Yes, there's always a desire to be together, but the media portrayed it wrong”. “I will go and do his seva, he just has to give me a call. If he comes down to the building where I am right now and tells me that I should go with him, I will immediately join him.”
On the issue of her name as his “wife” on his nomination papers, she said, “Even he has a liking for me, I am sure, and hence he wrote my nam. Adding,” In his heart, he definitely has feelings for me”.
While speaking to Zee News, she mentioned that “I am ready to go with him if he comes to take me”.
Earlier, speaking to the Indian Express in her first interview, she’d said, “Yes, I read everything that I can get my hands on. I read all the newspaper articles and also watch news on the television and like to read about him”.
The recent RTI filed by Jashodaben was listed as a matter of “life and death” as she has started fearing the embellishments of almost being the first lady of the country.
Jashodaben on Monday filed an application under the RTI Act seeking details about the official order under which she is provided with security cover and also sought information regarding other 'services' she is entitled to among other things, states a report by The Indian Express.
She submitted the RTI application, with twelve queries, at the office of the Superintendent of Mehsana district. In one of her queries she seeks details about the security cover that has been provided to her and asks for certified copies of all orders related to the security cover. She states 'India’s Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was attacked and killed by her personal bodyguards, because of which we are very afraid of our bodyguards.' She also seeks to know what 'other services can I get as per the protocol', states the report.
The Times of India reports that in the three-page RTI application, Jashodaben mentions herself as the wife of Prime Minister Narendra Modi five times. Jashodaben has also requested for a reply to the RTI application within 48 hours.
