A few weeks ago, Akhil Akkineni had confirmed that he is onboard director Venky Atluri’s upcoming film titled Mr Majnu. The first look and title of this flick has now been revealed along with a short teaser which is going viral online. The teaser also has an interesting song that goes “Devadasu Manavado, Manmadhudiki Varasudo…”, the lyrics being derived from hit movies that featured his grandfather A Nageswara Rao and father Nagarjuna.

While the first look, title and teaser have captured the attention of film buffs, we hear that the shooting is progressing at a fast pace. The film is bankrolled by BVSN Prasad under his banner Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra. Nidhi Agarwal has been signed to play Akhil’s love interest in the film. The technical crew of the film includes S Thaman for music, George C Williams for cinematography and Navin Nooli for editing. Also, Farah Karimaee, who was seen in the N Balakrishna starrer Gautamiputra Satakarni, has bagged an offer to star in the film. Reports indicate that the makers of Mr Majnu may rope in the actor for an item number and that the song would be shot in London.

Akhil made his debut as hero with Akhil in 2015 and his next film as the main lead was the Vikram Kumar directorial Hello. Incidentally, both these films received only a lukewarm response at the box office. But Hello managed to get a rare honour – it was nominated at the 17th Taurus World Stunt Awards 2018 under the Best Action in a Foreign Film category.

Director Venky Atluri made his directorial debut with Tholi Prema earlier this year, which had Varun Tej and Rashi Khanna playing the lead pair. A rom com, the film was also bankrolled by BVSN Prasad. Following the massive success of Tholi Prema, the same production house came forward to bankroll the director’s Mr Majnu.
