Akhil Akkineni is gearing up for the release of his third film. After many speculations over the release date of Mr Majnu, it has been confirmed that the film will hit the marquee on January 25. Well, that seems to be a good move by the filmmakers as they will be cashing in on the Republic Day weekend.

Confirming about the film’s release, Mr Majnu’s producer BVSN Prasad had said as quoted by the Indian Express, “Except for one song, the entire shooting has been wrapped up and the songs will be revealed one by one very soon. As a Republic Day gift, Mr Majnu will hit the screens worldwide on January 25.”

The film’s hero Akhil Akkineni wrote on Twitter, “You asked for a January release and I couldn’t say no. My first January release, can’t wait to kick start the new year with a bang! Love to you all.”

Director Venky Atluri also tweeted, “Can’t wait to introduce you to our Mr Majnu on Jan 25, 2019.”

The first look and title of Mr Majnu was revealed along with a short teaser which went viral online a few weeks ago. The teaser also has an interesting song that goes like Devadasu Manavado, Manmadhudiki Varasudo… and the lyrics are derived from the hit movies that featured his grandfather A Nageswara Rao and father Nagarjuna.

S Thaman is on board this project to compose the tunes. Mr. Majnu is being bankrolled by BVSN Prasad under his banner Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra. Nidhi Agarwal has been signed up to play a lead role in the film. The technical crew of this Akhil Akkineni starrer includes S Thaman for music, George C Williams for cinematography and Navin Nooli for editing.

Akhil made his debut as hero with Akhil in 2015 and his next film as the main lead with the Vikram Kumar directorial Hello. Incidentally, both these films received lukewarm response at the box office.  But the film has managed to get a rare honour. According to reports, it has been nominated at the 17th Taurus World Stunt Awards 2018 under the Best Action in a Foreign Film category.
