Actor Ajith’s latest movie with director Siva, Viswasam, has been cleared by the CBFC with a U certificate, thereby requiring no cuts in the movie. Sathya Jyothi Films, the makers of Ajith’s 58th movie, in a statement issued on Monday, said that it has made a perfect family entertainer and is happy about the certification.

“Sathya Jyothi Films has always been linked closely with family entertainers. Over the years, it has carried this as a ritual and has churned out movies that cater to the family audiences. We are now happy that CBFC has accredited our upcoming film ‘Viswasam’ with ‘U’. Our production house is thankful to Ajith Kumar sir and director Siva for being the supportive pillars in making this film happen,” read the statement.

Calling the movie a wholesome entertainer for this season, the production house also credited music director D Imman’s songs to be the ‘curtain-raiser for enhancing the festive mood’. Viswasam will slug it out with Rajinikanth’s Petta, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, for Pongal 2019 at the box office. The first look of the movie was released in August and the second look came out in October showing the star on a bike, with a colourful background. The first look motion poster of the film was released in November which was an extension of the posters that were already out. The 0.46-second motion poster begins with a younger version of Ajith, wearing a red shirt and shades, in the centre of celebrations and ends with the older version of Ajith bashing a man’s head through a door. The motion poster also revealed Ajith’s name in the movie, Thooku Durai.

Ajith, who was last seen playing an Interpol agent in Vivegam, will don a full-length rural avatar in Viswasam, which marks his fourth collaboration with director Siva after Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam. The movie, which went on the floors in May, stars Nayanthara opposite Ajith, with Yogi Babu, Thambi Ramaiah and Kovai Sarala in supportive roles. Though rumours are aplenty that Ajith will play a double role in the movie with one role wearing the salt and pepper look and the other one with black hair, sources have denied it and clarified that Ajith appears in two different looks.
