The News Minute| August 19, 2014| 11.00 pm IST A flight made a emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram airport, following an engine failure. An Air India Express flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai made emergency landing twice after engine failure was reported. The flight was delayed for some hours as there was a technical snag. Though the flight was supposed to take off at 4.30 pm IST, it was kept at the parking bay for more than four hours. The flight then took off from the Thiruvananthapuram around 7.45 pm IST. Passengers claim that within 10 minutes the pilot made an announcement that there was a technical snag, but it landed at the airport only at 10.30 pm IST After a first emergency landing the pilot took off again, but soon made another emergency landing, as the problem persisted. Airport officials informed the media that all passengers on the flight were safe, and the flight will not take off to Dubai on Tuesday. Air India has said an alternate flight will be arranged for the passengers tomorrow. But agitated passengers protested at the airport demanding to know how Air India Express went ahead with the flight plan, in spite of a technical snag. Last Saturday, passengers on an Air India plane from Mali to Thiruvananthapuram had a narrow escape after two of the plane's rear tyres burst during landing at the Thiruvananthapuram airport on Saturday.
