AIADMK patch-up Sasikala camp has a compromise formula but OPS will have none of it

With speculation rife that a patch-up is in the offing between the two warring factions of the AIADMK, and ministers and senior leaders from both sides making conciliatory statements, The News Minute has now learned that the Sasikala camp has proposed a compromise formula. However, sources in the O Panneerselvam camp say that they will not agree to that formula.

According to sources, this is what the Sasikala camp has suggested: They want Sasikala to remain the interim General Secretary of the party. TTV Dhinakaran will step down as the Deputy General Secretary of the party and OPS will become the deputy GS. Cabinet posts will be given to OPS and other senior leaders in the OPS camp like Mafoi Pandiarajan. Edappadi Palanisamy will continue to be the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

This formula is not going down well at all with the OPS camp.

A top source from the OPS team confirmed to The News Minute that they will completely reject this – their single most important demand is that the Sasikala family be completely out of the party leadership or government. “The entire family has to go out, we cannot give them any post,” the senior leader said emphatically.

The leader also asked, "Why should we agree to Sasikala or TTV being retained? The ball is in our court and we will decide. OPS will lead government and party, there cannot be any compromise on that."

TTV Dhinakaran however is desperate to strike a deal with the O Panneerselvam camp before the Delhi police team reaches Chennai. The Delhi police is investigating a case of alleged bribery against TTV Dhinakaran after a man was arrested reportedly attempting to influence officials of the Election Commission of India in Delhi on Sunday.
