The ‘Potti Potti’ song in the upcoming Omar Lulu directorial Dhamaka is the center of attraction among the trollers on the internet. While the song is gaining popularity, a number of netizens has come out with the allegation that the tune has been copied from the hit song ‘Didi’, sung by the Algerian singer Khaled in the 1990s. But Omar Lulu has clarified that ‘Potti Potti ‘is indeed the remix version of ‘Didi’ and this has been revealed before. The song has been set to tunes by Gopi Sundar.

On a Facebook post he wrote: “It is your choice to like or not like a song, brothers. The song was released as a remix of Didi song. Can’t you check the title credits before you start the trolls?”

Nikki Galrani plays the female lead in the film. Arun Kumar, who played a young boy in Mohanlal’s Olympian Anthony Adam, will be the hero in Dhamaka. Others in supporting roles include Urvashi, Mukesh, Dharmajan and Hareesh Kanaran. The film is bankrolled by MK Nasser.

Earlier, Dhamaka was caught in another controversy with the Bollywood actor Mukesh Khanna alleging that the filmmakers have used his popular tele-serial character Shakthiman without his permission. Apparently, an actor of Dhamaka was to sport the Shakthiman get-up for a funny sequence in the film and the picture was released as part of the promos. But it did not go too well with the makers of the Shakthimaan.

Mukesh Khanna, the actor and producer of the original Shaktimaan serial for Doordarshan, threatened legal action against the makers of Dhamaka for re-producing the character without their permission. Omar Lulu had then written a long apology note to Mukesh Khanna and also explained his reasons for using the Shakthimaan costume in the film.
