Another blogger was hacked to death in Dhaka in Bangladesh on Monday, states a report by AFP. The victim, Washiqur Rahman, was attacked by three knife-wielding attackers near his home.

"He was brutally hacked to death this morning with big knives just 500 yards (460 metres) from his home at Dhaka's Begunbari area," local police chief Wahidul Islam told AFP.

According to the report, the police said that they managed to arrest two suspects aged about 20 and students of madrassas, but that the third escaped. They have also retrieved three knives.

"So far what we've gathered after primary interrogation of the two suspects is that they killed him because he criticised hardline Islamists," Biplob Kumar Sarker, Deputy police commissioner, told AFP.

On February 26, American blogger of Bangladeshi origin Avijit Roy was hacked to death in Dhaka while returning from a book fair with his wife. The duo were dragged off a cycle rickshaw by two assailants and attacked with machetes. Roy succumbed to his injuries whereas his wife was severely injured.
